I’m feeling much more recovered after my hangover on Monday but I am pretty tired. My week has been going fairly well this week.

I had a great workout at the gym yesterday. I ran 4 miles on the treadmill which took 40 minutes then did a weight workout for 35 minutes mostly focusing on chest.

In the evening at home I finished my day off with 15 minutes of yoga. I’ve been doing yoga for a few weeks now and love it! I have always thought that I should stretch more after workouts and yoga helps with that and I find it so relaxing! I’m not very flexible yet or have a lot of balance but I’m improving! I would have liked to do more but I started kind of late and had to get to bed.

Today I am feeling kind of tired and rather conflicted. I want to go to run club at the Running Room which starts at 6:30pm but am undecided. I may just stay in and relax and do some yoga later in the evening but we shall see.

I’m so excited though, I had ordered the documentary Super Duper Alice Cooper from Amazon a few days ago and got it today earlier then expected! I just got into Alice Cooper a few years ago after see a cover band called Second Coming open for my buddy’s band which was a Rob Zombie cover band called The Devil’s Rejects! After the show I bought like six Alice Cooper albums off of Itunes and have really got into his music! I’m very much looking forward to watching the dvd, I probably will stay home and watch that lol!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far! Cheers!

Having Fun At The O Course!

The O Course Warm UP!

Yestarday I participated in The O Course which is a military style event. My day started at 6:20am which was very early for a Saturdy! My wife and I left the house about 7:30am for Balmy Beach in Toronto. We have never been there before and I had to print out the directions as our GPS was not reconizing the beach. We got there just in the nick of time. The course was instructed by Tony A and he had a few O Course instructors helping him out. He and the instructors would yell out orders (and he mentioned before the workout started not to get offended by the yelling of orders as it was just part of the workout and all in good fun! The warm up was really hard! We were given a piece of wood (which they called our rifle) and told to do a number of various exercises, many of them involving holding the rifle over our heads. Then we ran with our rifle down the beach (quite far!) and Tony A showed us our course. Along the way during our workout we would get in the water and do sit ups and push ups in the water. The workout itself was the same run up and down the beach with our rifles only we stopped at one point to do the commando bars which I was able to do but it was hard to get a good grip on them as my hands were covered in sand and wet from sweat. We also had to do 10 chin ups on the chin up bar and then at the end of the course, pick up a sledge hammer and hammer into the water fifteen times, then grabbing two buckets filled with sand and carry them to one end of the beach and back. That was tough, they were heavy! Then with a partner we were to carry another heavy object from one end of the beach to the other, carry a pack of sand up and down a hill, and lastly grab a chain and pull a heavy object from one end of the beach to the other! I came in 20something out of like 250+ people and ran the course in 41 minutes! I got sun burnt a bit and was sore from the exercises but had a great time, I look forward to doing the course again! Uh-rah!

Good day for a …

Had a good day for a Monday. Didn’t get a lot of sleep last night which is normal for Sunday night. Felt pretty good this morning and with my wife off work for the summer I had the car!

Work was pretty good today. Quite a few people were off either from being sick or on vacation. It was busy but over all a good day.

After work my wife and I went to the gym. I feel like I haven’t been there in awhile what with my running outside 26miles in one week two weeks ago, and with it being so hot last week.

I had originally taken a run every other day for two weeks challenge with Tribesports but with it being so hot these days I decided to cancel that challenge.

I decided instead to do a Go On The Treadmill For 30 Mins Every Day For 7 Days Challenge. Today was day one and it felt great! I did my treadmill run and then I hit the weights. In total I worked out for just over an hour and I feel really good right now!

My wife is starting to get dinner ready in which I will go and help out with in a few minutes. Looking forward to relaxing for a couple of hours before bed either reading or watching tv! Hope everyone has a great Monday!

It has been a r…

It has been a really good week this week! Work has been good even though it has been really hot and I had an overtime shift yesterday.

Saw three movies at the movie theatre which is probably a record. I saw Snow White and the Huntsman which I didn’t like so much, and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter & Brave which I really enjoyed. The next movies I want to see are Spiderman, the Total Recal remake, and Breaking Dawn Pt 2.

Yesterday after work a buddy came over to play some music. He plays bass and I play the guitar and sing. We both had the same music teacher and met at a workshop our former teacher set up to play open mic nights at a coffee shop. We practiced for awhile but then work got in the way and it has probably been about a year since we practiced last. I have gone on and played at open mic nights a few times on my own which was fun though it was good to play with my friend again. My wife said that my singing sounded a little flat as I haven’t really sang in a few weeks but basically we sounded good!

Today had church service this morning and I taught sunday school for the second time, it was fun! I still don’t really know what I am doing but I love all the kids and had a really good time! I had a slight problem when I thought I had forgotten to bring the lyrics to the children’s hymn Arky Arky. I didn’t even know the song and had to look it up on you tube last night and again this morning and thought I forgot it by my computer. We had to make the song up a little bit but the kids seemed to enjoy it. I had help from my family as well which was great!

So my wife and I are home now just taking it easy. I think I’m going to read a little and maybe take a nap this afternoon. Here’s hoping I get a good night sleep tonight so I’m well rested for work tomorrow and for a good start to the week! Hope everyone has a great week next week! Cheers!

Took a day off …

Took a day off from exercise today. Well I walked to work and walked with a buddy of mine after work to Tim Hortons for a coffee but I didn’t run or go to the gym.

I had a piano lesson tonight and I’ve been realizing with a lot of focus on fitness recently I’ve been slacking on both my piano and guitar as well.

I did get in about 20mins of guitar in last night which was great but haven’t practiced very much since march break. My piano teacher was giving me some great tips on how to get better with my practicing. A couple of things that were suggested was to pick a couple of days out of the week and a time that would be good for practice. Then have a reward system sort of like I do my practice then have a coffee or watch some tv afterwards.

My church has its annual strawberry social & talent show coming up where a friend of mine and I are going to play a couple of Johnny Cash songs. He will be singing and I am on acoustic guitar. So I started practicing for that last night seeing that it is not far off.

Music and fitness are two things which I love and just need to keep working to have a healthy balance in life. Hope everyone is having a great week so far! Cheers!

Yesterday after…

Yesterday after work my wife and I went to my parents house for dinner. I wanted to run again and it was a great run though I got a little too much sun. Didn’t get sun burnt or anything just felt pretty wiped out by the end of the run. A lot of the run was up hill and it was pretty windy.

It took me a little under an hour to run the 8k’s to my parents house. I do want to run a marathon at some point in my life. My wife did some calculations based on my run last night and figured I could potentially run a marathon in 4hrs and 37mins. Needles to say, it tired me out and I was ready to go home by 9:30pm.

I didn’t feel like running at all today though I had a good 7k walk. I’m not sure exactly how long it took me to walk that because I made a couple of stops along the way. I’m hoping to walk the same distance tomorrow though I’ll see how I am feeling then. I did no weights today and I’m not doing weights tomorrow either. A friend of mine said the other day that fitness people don’t seem to know when to stop, and I’m sure there is a lot of truth to that. Well that is all for today.

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday! Cheers!

Today I had a m…

Today I had a make up TRX class after work. It was at the Kingspoint Goodlife Fitness in downtown Brampton. It only takes one bus for me to get there from work which isn’t too bad. I got off the bus at the downtown terminal and I could have taken another bus down to the gym but I decided to walk for a little extra cardio. Got to the gym and I ran on the treadmill for 20 mins and did 5 chin ups to complete day two of my Tribesports challenge and 40 sit ups as a warmup. The TRX class was great! It seemed to just fly by and before I knew it I was sitting in the sauna. I love sauna’s after my workout. When I was at the YMCA they had a steam room which I actually like better but the sauna has grown on me. It is hard to believe that after tomorrows class there is only two more TRX classes next week and then this sessions finished. My only regret of the evening is that there is a McDonald’s right beside the gym which is where I wound up going for dinner. I got a surprise though. My amazing wife had swung by to pick me up and I didn’t have to take the bus home! Hope everyone’s day has gone well, cheers!
